About INPHYNI

The Nice Institute of Physics (INPHYNI) is a mixed research unit (UMR 7010) affiliated with the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNS) and the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) via a primary link with the latter’s Institute of Physics and a secondary one with its Institute of Engineering and System Sciences. Locally, INPHYNI is a member of the Université Côte d’Azur (UCA), mainly through its Networks, Information, and Digital Society and Complex Systems Academies of Excellence. Furthermore, its activities are related to Sections 2, 4, 5, and 8 of the CNRS National Committee for Scientific Research as well as Sections 28, 29, 30, and 63 of the National Council of Universities.

INPHYNI’s activities are structured around three, principal axes: Waves and quantum physics; Photonics; and Nonlinear physics, complex fluids, and biophysics. Projects developed around these topics cover theoretical, fundamental, and experimental aspects as well as applications. These projects benefit especially from the support of technological platforms and efficient administrative and technical shared services.

These activities are currently jointly managed at the Sophia Antipolis and Nice Valrose sites. The construction of a new building, planned for 2020 at the Plaine du Var, will allow all groups of the institute to be at one location.
